The 12^th Symposium of World’s Chinese Scientists on Nutrition and Feeding of Finfish and Shellfish

Letter of Invitation

TheSymposium of World’s Chinese Scientists on Nutrition and Feeding of Finfish and Shellfish (abbreviated as SWCSNFFS), is a grand meeting of Chinese aquatic animal nutrition academia and business circles all over the world, which was initiated by Professor Lin Ding from Sun Yat-sen University and Dr. Zhuang Jianlong from Taiwan. With its first session being successfully held in Guangzhou in 1992, eleven sessions of the symposium have been successfully held respectively in Qingdao (1995), Shanghai (1998), Wuhan (2001), Zhuhai (2004), Qingdao (2006), Beijing (2008), Chengdu (2011), Xiamen (2013), Wuhan (2015) and Huzhou (2017).

The 2019 symposium is themed with Green, Efficiency, Integration and Intelligence and it has seven subjects for discussion as nutritional demand and utilization of raw materials, nutritional physiology and metabolic regulation, intestinal microecology and health, nutrition and environment, functional feed, safety and quality control of aquatic products and feed processing, feeding and intelligence.

Co-sponsored by the Animal Nutrition and Feed Committee of China Society of Fisheries, Henan Normal University and Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry Science and Technology, the 2019 symposium will be held in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, China from October 14 to 18. We sincerely invite you to attend the symposium as invited experts, exchanging the latest research findings and discussing the future of a green global aquaculture.

Zhengzhou, where the 2019 symposium will be held, is the capital of Henan Province. Henan Province is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in east-central China. It is named Henan (south of the Yellow River) because most of the province is located in the south of the Yellow River.

With a long history and splendid culture, Henan is the homeland of the Chinese ancestors and origin of Chinese civilization. Henan is home to many historic figures and Chinese family names. Abundant in resources, Henan is the main producing area of agricultural products and a province with rich mineral resources. 

Henan is a populous province with rich labor resources and a massive consumer market. Situated in central China, Henan has become a hub of multi-mode transport system and center for logistics, flow of human and information. With fast economic development, the volume of its GDP ranks fifth among the provinces in China.

Henan Province is a major birthplace of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization. The Yellow Emperor, the ancestor of the Chinese nation, was born in Xinzheng city, Henan Province. Henan saw the origin of Chinese civilization, the invention of Chinese Characters, the formation of ancient cities and the unification of ancient China. In the 5000-year history of Chinese civilization, Henan Province served as a political, economic and cultural center for more than 3000 years and more than twenty dynasties built their capitals here.

Henan boasts four of the eight ancient capitals in China, namely Luoyang, the ancient capital of nine dynasties; Kaifeng, the ancient capital of the seven dynasties, Anyang, the ancient capital of the Yin Dynasty, and Zhengzhou, the ancient capital of commerce. The four great inventions of ancient China all originated in Henan. Henan boasts many cultural relics and historic sites, such as Yangshao cultural relics, Longshan cultural relics and the hometown of the Yellow emperor, to name a few. Henan also boasts the oldest observatory, mountain pass, Buddhist temples, and the world famous Shaolin temple is among them. Henan is also one of the major birth place of Chinese family names, over 170 of which originated in Henan.

Henan is not only rich in historical and cultural resources, but also abundant in spectacular natural attractions. Henan has four world geoparks, 14 national geoparks, 13national 5A tourist attractions, 146 national 4A tourist attractions and 532 starred hotels. The most amazing scene is the “Suspended River”---- due to sediment accumulation, the Yellow River runs from Zhengzhou to Kaifeng with the riverbed being 3-5 meters above the ground of both riverbanks. Moreover, the Red Flag Canal, also known as “the man-made river in Taihang mountain” is honored as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
